The Thread Caravan

La Antigua, Guatemala: A recent Thread Caravan adventure highlight.

While my husband and I have yet to go on a Thread Caravan Adventure, their mission is still noble enough to share. The basic premise is that the company hosts several trips per year to destinations all over the world. By booking the getaway with their group, the travelers are given an insider pass of sorts to the authentic culture and flavor of the destination, complete with creative workshops and opportunities to learn crafts directly from the local artisans. (All in a way that boosts the local economy in a sustainable way consistent with the values of that locale.) The company can even book a custom and personalized trip if requested. What a great idea for traveling sustainably in a way that both supports local culture and enriches the experience of the traveler.
