We hear about sustainable living all the time, but the non-profit CalEarth is making good on the promise and helping people of all incomes and from all over the world build their own dream and safe shelter in style. Each of their uniquely round homes is constructed from sandbag-like tube-bags filled with soil, sand and other sediment from the builders own environment.

Here's their mission statement:

Cal-Earth, the California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture, is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing solutions to the human need for shelter through research, development, and education in earth architecture. We envision a world in which every person is empowered to build a safe and sustainable home with their own hands, using the earth under their feet.
