A Foodie Refuge

A recent article in The New York Times turned me on to the awesome community building Toronto is doing with the Syrian refugees who now call Canada home. In an effort to help these kind people acclimate to a totally foreign environment, various restaurants (like The Depanneur, above and below) all over Toronto are inviting refugees in for cooking nights and hosting Pop Up dinners to build community. The article even mentions a few delicious bakeries started by refugees who came from a family of baklava bakers: What a treat!
